My name
is Mike Vandenbos; I will be the coach for the Jr. Aces Squirts this year. I
am very excited to start another year of hockey. I have played the game
since I was five. I played at a competitive level starting my Squirt year
and played all the way through my senior year at East High. I started
coaching as soon as my boys were able to play, six years now. We know
at this level the kids know the game of hockey. They just need to learn how
to apply what they know. One of my goals this season is to teach them how to
take their knowledge and develop plays, read where the game is going, power
plays, and time and space on ice.
Being a team is very important to me as a coach. They will work
together on and off the ice. Pregame warm-ups will be required as a team.
Respect is a big part of the game and
life. I expect the players to
respect each other and those in the hockey rink. I will implement all of
this into my coaching; above all I want them to have fun. If at any time you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to discuss these with me. I will try to be as open and honest as I can about what direction the team/each player is taking and the reasoning behind those decisions. Looking forward to a great season.
